We believe student writers have important things to say and we strive to put students in worthwhile conversation with each other, with their mentors, and with the world at large.
The guiding principles below apply to all Writing Program courses.
Writing is meaningful. Students write to learn and to communicate what they learn. Students explore and represent their experiences, perspectives, and ideas in conversation with others.
Writing is transformative. Students generate and pursue unique lines of inquiry. Students formulate, articulate, and promote stances in and through their writing.
Writing is collaborative. Students write and revise using responses from others (peers, consultants, and teachers). Students provide meaningful, constructive responses to their peers.
Writing is hard work. Students invest considerable time, critical thought, and creative energy into all of their writing. Students work with and maintain intellectual rigor and academic integrity.
